Authenticated code execution via unsanitized configuration write
Published Feb 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Command injection in Sphider Pro and Sphider Plus 3.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP code through the admin interface. The configuration-writing path passes insufficiently sanitized settings values to fwrite when generating conf.php, allowing injected PHP syntax to enter executable configuration. Administrative access is required, and successful exploitation runs code with the web service account's privileges.
