Remote code execution via exposed WebView interface
Published Feb 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Remote code execution in Boat Browser 8.0 and 8.0.1 for Android allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted website. The browser exposes a Java object through WebView.addJavascriptInterface, letting page JavaScript use reflection to obtain java.lang.Runtime and invoke a shell command. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted page on Android 3.0 through 4.1.x, after which code runs with the browser application's permissions.
