Local file disclosure and overwrite via predictable directory

Symlink following in Apache jclouds before 1.8.0 allows local users on a provisioned node to read or overwrite files through /tmp/$$. Statements.extractTargzAndFlattenIntoDirectory emits a Bash script that creates a PID-named directory without rejecting a preexisting symbolic link. A user able to preposition that link on the target node can redirect archive extraction or later file moves, exposing data, corrupting files, or interrupting service.
