Browser script execution via unneutralized URL parameter
Published Jan 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Reflected XSS in Ultimate Weather for WordPress 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in a visitor's browser via a crafted URL. The plugin returns the url request parameter in generated page output without context-appropriate neutralization, making attacker-supplied markup executable. Exploitation requires a visitor to open the crafted link; the script runs in the affected site's origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
