Authenticated privileged SSH access via configuration error
Published Mar 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Remote access weakness in Fortinet FortiBalancer 400, 1000, 2000 and 3000 allows remote authenticated users to gain privileged SSH access. A platform-specific configuration error exposes privileged access through SSH; Fortinet has not published the erroneous setting or credential path. Once authenticated, an attacker gains privileged appliance access that can expose or alter data and interrupt service.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
