Administrator account creation via nonce-free administrative API requests
Published Feb 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Controller before 3.2.1 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account. Multiple administrative API endpoints, including api/add/admin, accept state-changing requests without an unpredictable anti-CSRF nonce. An administrator must be authenticated and visit attacker-controlled content; forged requests can add an administrator and alter network or controller settings.
