Arbitrary SQL execution via PATH_INFO parameter
Published Mar 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
SQL injection in aheadWorks Advanced Newsletter before 2.3.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL through PATH_INFO. The unauthenticated subscribeajax route incorporates the an_category_id path value into a database query without neutralizing SQL syntax, as demonstrated by a time-delay BENCHMARK expression. A reachable Magento storefront with the extension enabled is sufficient; successful injection permits database reads or writes and can execute OS commands when the DBMS configuration allows it.
