Root code execution via writable monitor script
Published Jul 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Privilege escalation in Array Networks vAPV 8.3.2.17 and vxAG 9.2.0.34 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via SSH. The shipped SSH credential grants limited shell access, where /ca/bin/monitor.sh is world-writable and the setuid backend debug command executes its contents as root. Successful exploitation requires network access to SSH and acceptance of the default password or hardcoded DSA key, after which the appliance is fully compromised.
