Remote file upload via missing capability check
Published Jun 1, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Automattic VaultPress Plugin 1.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload files through MailPoet. The affected releases lack the protect_wysija_newsletters_verify_capability admin-init guard that checks the capability required for each MailPoet page. A WordPress account able to reach the affected MailPoet request path can place an attacker-chosen file on the server.
