Script execution via unescaped file error output
Published Mar 4, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Reflected XSS in Media Downloader 0.1.992 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in a user's browser through a crafted file value. In getfile.php, dl_file_resumable inserts the unsanitized file argument into an HTML comment in its 404 error response instead of encoding it. Exploitation requires a user to follow a crafted link, after which the injected script runs in that user's browser context.
