User disclosure and group modification via query interpolation
Published Jan 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
SQL injection in john5223 bottle-auth allows remote authenticated users to read user records or alter group memberships through crafted values. The get_group and create_update_user handlers concatenate stored user identifiers and request-derived group or user values into SELECT and DELETE statements. Low-privileged adjacent-network access is the published gate; exploitation exposes user records or changes group memberships within the application database.
