CVE-2014-125048Network attack vector

Session hijacking via unreplaced OAuth session identifier

Published Jan 6, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Session fixation in the OAuth callback in Kluks Xingwall allows remote attackers to hijack authenticated sessions through a preset session ID. The callback in app/controllers/oauth.js stores the authenticated XING profile and OAuth tokens in the existing Express session without first regenerating its identifier. Exploitation requires a victim to complete the XING login flow with an attacker-chosen session identifier, after which the attacker can reuse that identifier to access the victim's session.
