Service interruption via unchecked TrueMotion1 header length
Published Jun 19, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Memory corruption in FFmpeg 2.0's TrueMotion1 decoder allows remote attackers to interrupt media processing with crafted video data. truemotion1_decode_header uses the packet-declared header length to XOR input bytes without first ensuring that the packet contains the full declared header. No authentication is required; reaching a process that decodes the malformed stream can terminate that process, with no published confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
