Out-of-bounds access via pixel-format error misdetection
Published Jun 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Out-of-bounds access in FFmpeg 2.0 JPEG 2000 decoding allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via crafted media. The get_siz path treats the current pixel format as the failure sentinel instead of checking whether pix_fmt_match exhausted its format table, permitting out-of-array access. Exposure requires decoding attacker-controlled JPEG 2000 content; published assessments bound the demonstrated consequence to service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
