Unauthenticated root code execution via UPnP RunLua
Published Jan 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in MiCasaVerde VeraLite 1.5.408 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Lua code via UPnP RunLua requests. The HomeAutomationGateway service accepts a RunLua SOAP action on port 49451 without authentication and executes the supplied Lua as root; a second endpoint permits the same action to authenticated remote users. LAN reachability to the exposed UPnP service is required, and successful execution can fully compromise the appliance.
