CVE-2013-4532

Host code execution via unchecked migration state

Published Jan 2, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Buffer overflow in QEMU 1.1.2+dfsg through 2.1+dfsg lets attackers execute host code via crafted Stellaris migration state. The stellaris_enet_load path accepts next_packet, tx_fifo_len, and tx_frame_len from savevm data without bounds checks, then uses them as receive-array indexes or transmit-buffer lengths. Reachability requires the ability to alter a saved-state file or migration stream; successful exploitation runs with the QEMU process's host privileges.
