Code execution via untrusted DWMAPI DLL search
Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Untrusted DLL loading in Kakao PotPlayer before 1.5.39659 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted DWMAPI.dll. PotPlayer resolves DWMAPI.dll through an untrusted search path and loads an attacker-controlled copy instead of the system library. Exploitation requires user interaction to launch PotPlayer from a location containing the malicious DLL, and the code runs with the player's privileges.
