Information disclosure via unauthenticated Web interface commands
Published Feb 6, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Missing access control in VideoLAN VLC media player before 2.0.7 allows remote attackers to list local directories through its web interface. The HTTP interface accepts the dir command and other control requests without authenticating the requester. The interface must be enabled and network-reachable; exposed instances disclose filesystem listings, while public records do not bound the effects of other accepted commands.
