Unauthenticated configuration disclosure via .jpg URL substring
Published Jan 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in NETGEAR WNR1000v3 firmware before 1.0.2.60 allows remote attackers to retrieve the router configuration. The embedded web server exempts any URL containing the .jpg substring from authentication, including a crafted request for NETGEAR_fwpt.cfg. Network access to the management service is enough; reversible configuration encryption exposes the clear-text administrator password.
