Unauthenticated file disclosure via unchecked importer path
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Path traversal in AWS XMS 2.5 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through importer.php's what parameter. The importer.php script passes the insufficiently filtered what value to PHP's file() function, allowing path-normalization and null-byte variants to escape the intended file scope. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful requests disclose application configuration data and administrator credentials without modifying files.
