Root command execution via crafted theme upload
Published Feb 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Remote command execution in ZPanel 10.1.0 allows attackers to execute operating-system commands as root through a crafted theme. The themes feature processes an uploaded template expression containing an injected exec call and passes its command to the bundled zsudo helper. Reachability requires the ability to upload a theme; successful exploitation grants root-level command execution on a Linux host.
