Unauthenticated command execution via unescaped cart URL
Published Jan 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Command injection in OpenShift Origin allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted cart-download URL. The download_from_url function interpolates the untrusted URL directly into a backtick-executed curl command without validation or shell escaping. No authentication or user interaction is required, but Red Hat stated that the affected code remained upstream and had not entered OpenShift Online or Origin releases.
