Remote code execution via unrestricted PHP upload

Published Jun 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in Themify Elemin before 1.4.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP through a legacy endpoint. The wp-content/themes/elemin/themify/themify-ajax.php endpoint accepts attacker-supplied files into a web-accessible theme uploads directory without restricting executable PHP. No authentication is required, and exploitation grants code execution in the WordPress server context when the legacy file remains present.
