Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in User Photo 0.9.4 for WordPress allows remote authenticated users to execute a backdoor through a crafted photo upload. The photo-upload handler performs only partial validation, allowing a server-side backdoor file to be stored and called before an administrator approves the image. Exploitation requires an account that can submit a user photo and a server configuration that executes the uploaded file, enabling code execution in the WordPress hosting context.
