Unauthenticated service crash via crafted administrative packet
Published Jan 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Denial of service in SAP NetWeaver 2004s, 7.01 SR1, 7.02 SP06, and 7.30 SP04 allows remote attackers to crash Message Server. The WRITE_C function in msg_server.exe processes a crafted administrative-opcode 0x15 AD_RZL_STRG request, but the specific invalid operation is undisclosed. No authentication or user interaction is required; network access to TCP port 36NN or 39NN is enough to interrupt the service.
