Authenticated command execution via TimeToLive shell injection
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
OS command injection in NETGEAR DGN1000B firmware 1.1.00.24 and 1.1.00.45 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The setup.cgi UPnP handler places the TimeToLive POST value into a shell command without validation, so backtick-delimited input runs on the router. Administrative web credentials are required, and successful exploitation permits arbitrary command execution and persistent device compromise.
