Authenticated command execution via unsanitized ping address
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
OS command injection in the D-Link DIR-615H1 8.04 ping diagnostic allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shell commands. The tools_vct.htm handler passes the ping_ipaddr value to a shell without validation, so backtick-delimited content is evaluated as a command. Administrative web credentials are required, and successful exploitation grants command execution on the router; published tests used default credentials.
