Authenticated command execution via unsanitized ping input
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated May 26, 2026
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-300 rev A 1.05 and DIR-615 rev D 4.13 allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands. The tools_vct.xgi CGI endpoint places the pingIp value inside a shell command without neutralizing backticks, so injected text is evaluated by the device shell. Valid web-interface credentials and firmware exposing tools_vct.xgi are required; successful exploitation grants root-level control of the router.
