SYSTEM code execution via named-pipe path traversal
Published Aug 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Path traversal in Agnitum Outpost Internet Security 8.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The acs.exe service accepts unauthenticated commands over the acsipc_server named pipe and resolves traversal paths to DLLs in user-controlled locations. A low-privileged local account can supply such a path, causing the privileged service to load the DLL and execute its code as SYSTEM.
