Observable timing discrepancy in Ziftr primecoin 0.8.4rc1 allows attackers to infer RPC credentials through repeated authentication attempts. The HTTPAuthorized function compares the decoded Basic authentication value with strRPCUserColonPass using early-exit string equality, so response timing varies with matching input prefixes. Exploitation requires adjacent network access, low privileges, and repeated timing measurements; the documented consequence is limited to credential disclosure.
