Authenticated XSS via unescaped tab parameter
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Pinboard 1.0.6 for WordPress allows remote authenticated users to execute script via the administration page. The theme-options.php administration template inserts the unescaped GET tab parameter into HTML input names, allowing crafted values to break out of the attribute and inject script. Access requires an authenticated WordPress account and a victim browser request to the crafted administration URL; the documented impact is script execution with the victim's browser privileges, including page data access or actions available to that session.
