CVE-2012-6297Network attack vector

Root command execution via forged configuration requests

Published Feb 6, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Command injection in DD-WRT 24-sp2 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root through a forged request from an authenticated client. Configuration-value handling passes shell metacharacters into command execution instead of neutralizing them. The victim must be authenticated to the router and induced to submit the CSRF request; injected commands can compromise the device or force a reboot loop.
