Local administrator escalation via writable service ACL
Published Jan 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Privilege escalation in Safend Data Protector Agent 3.4.5586.9772 allows local users to obtain local administrator access. The SDBagent service grants WRITE_DAC on SDBAgent.exe to all local users, allowing its ACL to be rewritten and the executable replaced with a trojan. Any local account can modify the service binary's permissions, and execution of the replacement grants full local administrator privileges.
