CVE-2012-3808Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file modification via exposed ActiveX methods

Published Jan 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Improper access control in Samsung Kies before 2.5.0.12094_27_11 allows remote attackers to copy, move, or delete arbitrary files. CmdAgent.dll exposes FileCopy, FileCopySync, FileDelete, FileMove, and FileMoveSync through an ICommandAgent ActiveX interface that accepts attacker-chosen paths without restricting untrusted callers. Attacker-controlled web content must instantiate the Windows control; file operations then run with the current user's privileges and can alter or remove any file accessible to that account.
