Server-wide permission changes via WebDAV path traversal
Published Jan 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Path traversal in ISPConfig 3.0.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to change ownership and permissions across the server. The WebDAV user form in interface/web/sites/webdav_user_edit.php accepts ../ sequences in its dir field, letting the selected path escape its assigned website before chmod and chown run. A client account with access to Add new Webdav user is required; targeting / can render the host unusable by rewriting root-directory ownership and mode.
