Remote script injection via newUser parameter
Published Jan 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Plixer Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer 8.6.2.16204 through before 9.0.1.19899 lets remote attackers inject script. The cgi-bin/userprefs.cgi handler inserts the newUser parameter into generated user-preference HTML without neutralizing script markup. Exploitation is network reachable but requires a victim administrator to load the crafted response; impact is script execution in that browser context, and the record notes administrators may already be authorized to create scripts.
