Protected resource disclosure via external entity expansion
Published Jul 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
XXE in XML::Atom before 0.39 allows remote attackers to read protected resources through XML from untrusted sources. The XML::LibXML and XML::Parser paths accepted external entity declarations and resolved their referenced local or network resources while parsing. Exposure requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled XML to the library; successful entity resolution discloses data readable by that process.
