Remote code execution via default WebDAV credentials
Published Aug 30, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Apache Friends XAMPP 1.7.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code via WebDAV. The default /webdav/ endpoint accepts PUT requests authenticated with shipped credentials, stores attacker-supplied PHP, and serves it for execution on a later GET. Network access to WebDAV and knowledge of the unchanged default credentials are required; successful use executes code in the web server context.
