Unauthenticated code execution via traversable ASPX upload
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Remote code execution in Umbraco CMS before 4.7.1 allows remote attackers to execute ASPX code through an unauthenticated SOAP request. The codeEditorSave.asmx SaveDLRScript operation accepts an unauthenticated fileName, fails to confine traversed paths, and writes supplied ASPX content beneath /umbraco/. Network access to the endpoint and server-side write permission are sufficient to place and run code in the IIS application context.
