Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded Connection header
Published Aug 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in PMSoftware Simple Web Server 2.2 rc2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an HTTP request. Connection header parsing passes an attacker-controlled overlong value to vsprintf() without a destination bound, overwriting the process stack. The request reaches the flaw before authentication, and successful exploitation runs code with the web server process's privileges.
