Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked file upload
Published Jul 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in scribu Front-end Editor before 2.3 allows remote attackers to write executable files through upload.php. The bundled Aloha Editor drag-and-drop demo reads X-File-Name from request headers and writes the raw POST body under that name without extension or MIME checks. No authentication is required, but the upload path depends on PHP raw POST data support; a PHP file reachable through the web server executes in that server's context.
