Authenticated SQL injection via unsanitized media names
Published Apr 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
SQL injection in Contus HD FLV Player 1.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter queries through crafted media names. The hd_add_media and hd_update_media functions in functions.php place POST name and act_name values into raw INSERT and UPDATE statements without restrictive filtering. Successful injection executes SQL with the WordPress database account's permissions, so database contents can be read or changed after authentication.
