Script execution via unsanitized checkout email fields
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Backdrop CMS Basic Cart before 1.x-1.1.1 allows remote attackers to inject script through checkout fields. basic_cart_checkout_form_submit substitutes checkout values into administrative and customer email templates, then sends the resulting HTML without XSS filtering. Exploitation requires a recipient to render the crafted message, confining script execution to that message-viewing context.
