CVE-2012-0334

Man-in-the-middle attacks via cached-certificate misvalidation

Published Jan 15, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Certificate validation failure in Cisco Secure Web Appliance AsyncOS before 7.5 allows remote attackers to intercept TLS traffic. The SSL implementation accepts a newly injected certificate into its server-side cache and then misvalidates later client-session traffic against that cached certificate. The attacker must share an adjacent network and persuade a targeted user to revisit the domain, enabling interception or alteration of that user's TLS session.
