Unauthenticated PHP code execution via upload renaming
Published Feb 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Joomla TinyBrowser 1.5.12 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via its web interface. The exposed workflow accepts PHP content under an image extension through upload_file.php, then lets edit.php rename the file with a .php extension under images/stories. Network access without authentication is sufficient, and requesting the renamed file executes code with the web server process's privileges.
