Administrator-level PHP code execution via preg_replace evaluation
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
PHP code injection in Tiki 8.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute arbitrary PHP code. The snarf_ajax.php endpoint forwards regex and regexres to the SNARF plugin; a null byte bypasses its e-modifier check, so preg_replace evaluates regexres as PHP. Exploitation requires an administrator account and the non-default PluginSnarf feature, and the injected code runs in the web application context.
