CVE-2011-1762Network attack vector

Contributor post publishing via unchecked status flag

Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Improper authorization in WordPress before 3.0.6 and 3.1 through 3.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to publish posts. The Press This handler sets post_status to publish whenever the publish request flag is present, without checking publish_posts. Contributor access is sufficient, enabling unauthorized publication of stored site content without granting broader administrative control.
