CVE-2011-1554Network attack vector

Application crash via off-by-one font parsing

Published Mar 31, 2011 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

An off-by-one error in the Type 1 font parser in t1lib 5.1.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash applications via a crafted PDF. The parser applies an off-by-one boundary calculation to untrusted font data, triggering an integer overflow, invalid memory read, and invalid pointer dereference. A user must open or otherwise process the malicious document in an application linked to t1lib; the documented consequence is an application crash.
