TOCTOU race conditions in Nagios XI before 2011R1.9 allow local users to execute commands with elevated privileges through crontab updates. The privileged crontab installation scripts check filesystem paths before use without synchronization or final-path validation, allowing intervening filesystem changes to redirect elevated file or command handling. A low-privileged local account and successful race timing are required; compromise is confined to the Nagios XI host but grants higher operating-system privileges.
