Administrator account creation via forged cross-origin POST
Published Feb 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Icecat Batavi before 1.0 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account via a crafted web page. The administrator save endpoint accepts a cross-origin POST containing account fields while trusting the administrator's attached session cookie. The attack succeeds only when a sufficiently privileged administrator is signed in and visits an attacker-controlled page, causing creation of an attacker-chosen administrator account.
